ICC Austin has four, full-time professional staff to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the organization.  We appreciate our staff and the important work they do to lead us towards our Ends.

Ashleigh

Executive Director: Ashleigh R. Lassiter

Ashleigh R. Lassiter joined ICC Austin staff in March 2014 as the membership director and moved into the ED role in October 2018.  Ashleigh has over 10 years of experience in change management, program development, and board governance strategy/support.  She is passionate about access to higher education and believes all students should be able to attend college.  Prior to her work with ICC Austin, Ashleigh served as the Director of Volunteer Services for St. David’s Medical Center.   Ashleigh is a graduate of the University of Texas and an alumni member of the Colts Drum & Bugle Corps and Longhorn Band.  Outside of work, Ashleigh loves to spend time with her husband and dog hiking the beautiful trails in Central Texas or enjoying a craft beer at one of the many local breweries.  A life long learner, Ashleigh is committed to her own journey of understanding and undoing racism and living more sustainably.

Laura

Cooperative Experience Director: Laura J. Khalil

Laura J. Khalil joined the ICC Austin team in January 2017 and moved into her current role in June 2018.  Laura is responsible for helping our members create and maintain the best possible cooperative living environments.  She works closely with our house officer and membership to foster environments that are safe, healthy, equitable, and that enable our members to learn, grow, and thrive as a community, as students, and as people.  Laura graduated from Yale University in 2006, and moved to Austin to teach middle and high school humanities. She then left teaching to pursue a career in the non-profit sector. Outside of work , Laura loves to spend her time creating art (especially theatre), completing crossword puzzles, and traveling.

Chris

Facilities Manager: Chris Hegar

Chris Hegar joined the ICC Austin team in November 2016. Chris oversees all aspects of facilities including conducting and coordinating repairs, managing contractors, and generally keeping the houses in working order. Chris started his career by working with his father and learning the carpentry and construction trade. He then moved on to work at Brackenridge Hospital, Seton Shoal Creek Psychiatric, and  the Conservatory . Chris spends his time outside of work with his wife, son, 3 dogs, a cat, lizards and fish. He loves exploring all that Austin has to offer from the food, event, concerts etc. One of his favorite past times is traveling to see music all around the country.  He’s also mastering the fine skills of BBQ’ing.

Billy

Operations Manager: Billy Thogersen

Billy Thogersen has been with ICC Austin for over 17 years serving in multiple capacities including facilities director and executive director.  Billy knows the ICC Austin houses inside and out and is responsible for most of the capital improvements over the last 20 years.  He has helped ICC Austin grow through major organizational shifts and has been instrumental in the development of our newest co-op house – Ruth Schulze (coming August 2019!).  Billy is a graduate of the University of Texas and an alumni member of  House of Commons and New Guild.  Outside of work, Billy enjoys woodworking, listening to music, and playing games.
