ICC Austin has three full-time professional staff, a part-time Board Administrative Assistant and a part-time maintenance assistant. Our staff helps with the day-to-day operations of the organization.
Billy Thogersen has been with ICC Austin for over 15 years. He has spent the majority of that time serving as the Facilities Director. Billy was promoted to full-time Executive Director in August 2015. Billy holds ultimate responsibility for the operations of ICC Austin and is the official staff connection to the Board of Directors. In addition to his role as ED, Billy still performs many of the Facilities Director job duties including coordinating and overseeing the majority of routine maintenance as well as all capital improvements projects. Billy has helped ICC Austin grow through major organizationl shifts including changing to a student-only housing cooperative and transitioning to the policy governance framework model. Billy is an ICC Austin alumni of both House of Commons and New Guild.
Ashleigh R. Lassiter joined ICC Austin staff in March 2014. Ashleigh’s major responsibilities include member education, contract signing and occupancy, leadership development and assisting members with conflict resolution. Prior to her work with ICC Austin, Ashleigh served as the Director of Volunteer Services for St. David’s Medical Center. She has over nine years of experience in program development, volunteer capacity building and student leadership development. Ashleigh is a graduate of the University of Texas and an alumni member of the Colts Drum & Bugle Corps. Ashleigh is active in her community and spends time volunteering with the Texas Master Naturalists, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, and serves as a Board director for the Austin Cooperative Business Association (ACBA).
Nick Hill joined ICC Austin in September 2014. In his role as Finance Director, he operates as the central resource for strategic economic guidance, financial record keeping, financial and managerial accounting expertise, financial planning, bookkeeping, payroll, and cash management functions for the corporation and for the houses. He also provides Financial training for the Board of Directors and House Treasurers. Nick lived in ICC Austin for 4 years, while attending UT Austin and later received his Master’s in Accounting at UNT Denton. Before joining ICC Austin as staff, Nick had several years experience with a top multi-national accounting firm, entrepreneurial work in Austin and Financial Consulting. Nick is passionate about co-oops. He’s on the Board of Directors for Whitehall and NASCO Development Services (NDS). He’s also involved with several local cooperative-minded organizations and worker co-op initiatives around Austin.
Audrey Castro joined the ICC Austin team in December of 2015. As the Board Administrative Assistant (BAA), Audrey supports the ICC Board of Directors by planning and coordinating all meetings, preparing board packets and taking minutes. An Austin native, Audrey graduated from Texas Lutheran University in 2011 and spent six years working in retail where she was promoted to an operations manager. Audrey will be returning to school to pursuse her Master’s in Nursing to become a NICU Nurse Practioner. In her spare time, Audrey likes to do woodworking crafts, watch a wide variety of movies, and go to Houston Astros games during baseball season.
Alex Aviles joined ICC Austin in June 2015. Alex studies Physics at the University of Texas and is a second year member at New Guild. As maintenance assistant, Alex performs general maintenance at our nine houses and coordinates monthly maintenance checklists with the house maintenance officers.
