Eden House is the smallest co-op in the ICC Austin community, allowing members to foster a close-knit, open-minded, and welcoming community for one another. Located on the corner of 21st and Rio Grande Street in UT’s West Campus next to the Bodega convenience store, Eden is only a 10-minute walk or a quick bike ride away from campus, providing easy access to quick food, bus stops and restaurants that are located on Guadalupe, and contact with other nearby co-ops and student housing for making friends and learning more about what Austin has to offer.

In addition to the 11 single rooms and 2 shared rooms, Eden has a porch and a sundeck on the second floor where members can bond and come together, a bike room, garage storage, a vegetable garden, a free washer and dryer, wi-fi Internet, and a driveway that can hold 7-8 cars for members and guests. Being a non-vegetarian house, members can cook a variety of meals for themselves or for each other with the help of an industrial kitchen, and eat and study with in the living room table or couches. Individuals who are applying for house process should let the membership officer know about any accommodations needs (dietary, mobility, etc).

Once new members have settled into Eden, they will have the opportunity to feel right at home with other housemates and contribute to the co-op’s dynamic culture. The house members organize biweekly meetings where they can discuss house matters, or to plan regular social gatherings such as movie nights with the house projector and day trips to visit various sightseeing spots, festivals, or other local events. Eden also hosts parties that feature bands from Austin’s thriving live music and entertainment community to bring members together and let the city neighbors learn about the perks of enjoying the co-op life.

Eden strives to make the house an empowering space for all residents. We welcome folks of all identities, interests, and backgrounds and work to make our house a safe place that encourages communal growth. We seek to maintain culture that discourages sexism, racism, harassment, and oppressive language.

For any questions about Eden House or about the house process, please contact the membership officer or ICC Austin staff.
