ICC Austin promotes a healthy conflict resolution process. Working through problems as a group is fundamental to cooperation. Conflict is a normal and healthy part of life, but many of us have not been trained to deal with conflict effectively. ICC’s Conflict Resolution Manual includes a variety of resources for helping to resolve tensions and conflicts that might arise in your housing cooperative. This handbook shares a broad understanding of conflict, strategies for alleviating tensions before they turn into conflicts, basics of an ideal conflict resolution, and tips and suggestions for dealing with conflict.

In addition, ICC Austin provides conflict resolution & mediation training once per semester. This workshop focuses on developing personal conflict resolution skills and learning about ICC Austin’s conflict resolution policy and procedures. Together we will talk through conflict scenarios and participate in role-play to develop conflict resolution and mediation skills. All participants will become paid conflict mediators for ICC Austin. You can view the most current Conflict Resolution & Member Review Policy here.

Have your plans changed?  You’ve accepted an internship in another city; decided to take time off to travel or decided not to return to Austin; …whatever the reason. We understand that member’s plans change.  To balance fairness while also meeting the needs, ICC Austin has an easy contract termination process.   Members may terminate their Member-Resident Agreement for any reason at any time for a $500 fee.  There are certain times of the year when the fee is substantially less.  View the current Early Termination Policy for specific dates.  Contact our Membership Director if you decide you need to terminate your contract.  She will assist you with the process.

ICC Austin’s primary form of communication is email. Members must provide a valid email address to the ICC Austin Office. Any communication sent via email will be presumed to have been received.

All ICC Austin members are subscribed to three mailing lists once a contract is finalized. This includes the ICC Forum, ICC Open Forum and a house specific list. You may unsubscribe from any list if you wish. If you have any trouble unsubscribing, contact our Membership Director for assistance.
